Homologation : Transpolis expands its range of regulations

Since its inception, Transpolis has established itself as a benchmark in the French and European landscape as a testing laboratory. Since 1998, the company has held COFRAC ISO 17025 accreditation for its road equipment testing activities. Thirty years later, Transpolis teams continue to deliver expertise, rigor, and customer commitment in the crash-testing of road equipment, offering more than 20 standards under its accreditation scope.

Excellence depuis 30 ans.

Testing Laboratory

In recent years, a new laboratory specializing in active vehicle safety evaluation has emerged within Transpolis. Adhering to the same level of rigor, the vehicle testing lab, an expert in driver assistance systems testing, has held ISO 17025 accreditation since 2022 for approximately 10 Euro NCAP and UNECE protocols. In 2023, Transpolis was designated a Technical Service of the French State by the National Vehicle Reception Center (CNRV), offering homologation testing services.
In 2024, Transpolis takes another step forward, significantly expanding the scope of its ISO 17025 accreditation.

From development to homologation

With our expertise and dedicated teams, we handle a wide range of tests for our clients, spanning different test categories.

Test categories :
  1. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems):
Our tests verify the performance and robustness of driver assistance systems, ensuring safety for drivers and vulnerable road users.
  2. Homologation:
We assist manufacturers and suppliers in the homologation process of their vehicles, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  3. Simulation:
Using advanced simulation tools, we recreate and analyze various scenarios to test vehicle and safety system performance.
  4. Automated and Connected Mobility:
We assess autonomous driving technologies and vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems, contributing to the mobility of the future.

Our expertise supports innovation and safety by conducting tests according to various standards (Euro NCAP, GSR, UNECE) and providing tailored solutions to current and future challenges in the automotive sector.

Our accreditation scope expands

As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, Transpolis has recently expanded its ISO 17025 accreditation. This extension now includes new regulations and test categories, covering the full spectrum from vehicle development to homologation.

Flex2 accreditation scope: What does it mean?

The Flex2 accreditation scope allows Transpolis to add or update regulations within its accreditation domain without requiring prior evaluation by COFRAC. This flexibility enables rapid adaptation to technological and regulatory developments.

Overview of new regulations

With this expansion, we now perform tests compliant with essential vehicle homologation regulations:

  • Vehicle Dynamics:
Ensures our ability to test and certify AEB systems, enhancing vehicle safety and reducing accident rates.
    • UNECE R131 – Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) for heavy vehicles
    • UNECE R130 – Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
    • UNECE R152 – Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEBS) for M1 and N1
    • EU 2021/646 – Emergency Lane-Keeping System (ELKS)
  • Driver Information:
Validates ADAS systems that help prevent speeding and unintentional lane departures.
    • UNECE R151 – Blind Spot Information
    • UNECE R159 – Information Movement
    • EU 2021/1958 – Intelligent Speed Assistance
  • Speed Management:
Ensures the accuracy and reliability of speed measurement devices and speed-limiting technologies.
    • UNECE R39 – Speedometer
    • UNECE R89 – Speed Limiter

Testing facilities

With 200 hectares of modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment, we replicate a multitude of driving scenarios, delivering precise, repeatable, and impartial results.

Proving ground

Transpolis features two complementary test centers dedicated to vehicle innovation and safety. Unique in Europe, our facilities are fully equipped with the latest technologies to meet testing protocol requirements.

Targets and rividng robots

We offer a range of official Euro NCAP and UNECE targets and utilize driving robots and all necessary equipment for repeatable test protocols (inertial central units, GPS beacons). These tools are essential for validating driver assistance systems under current regulations.

« Regulations are evolving increasingly rapidly, toward ever more complex systems. Technological advances, such as growing driving automation, bring new regulatory challenges. Thanks to our expertise, we support manufacturers in their homologation efforts and test campaign optimization. »
